Getting started
VouchCord is a Discord bot for collecting vouches (star rating, comment, optional proof image, product). Approved vouches post as embeds in your chosen channel.
You are not limited to Discord for setup. Most ongoing configuration — channels, roles, products, embed color, layout (Premium), backups, blacklist, and Premium purchase/redeem — lives in the web dashboard after you sign in with Discord. In Discord, members use /vouch to leave reviews; staff use commands like /lookup, /delvouch, /backup, and /settings when you prefer chat.
Recommended path: Invite the bot → open
Dashboard → pick your server → complete
Setup (channels + admin role + color) → add
Products → try
/vouch in Discord. Use
Server settings and
Embed settings anytime to change behavior without hunting slash commands.
For a compact list of every slash command and permission level, see the Commands page. For a long troubleshooting list (errors, billing, backups, hosting), see the FAQ page.
Free vs Premium (summary)
- Free: Single product per vouch, default embed layout, up to 15 products, backups include up to 100 vouches per run, no rolling backup history, no sticky / auto-emoji / staff confirmation / post-vouch role / custom layout in dashboard.
- Premium (one-time per server): Multiple products per vouch, custom layout & thumbnail, unlimited products, unlimited vouches per backup, rolling backup history (10 newest), plus automation options in Server settings. Purchase only from the dashboard Subscription tab.
Inviting the bot
-
Use the Invite link from the website or support server.
-
Choose the correct Discord server and review permissions.
-
The bot needs at least: Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Use External Emojis, Manage Messages (for staff flows and moderation), Read Message History, and Use Application Commands. For Premium post-vouch roles, add Manage Roles and keep the chosen role below the bot’s highest role.
-
After authorizing, open Server Settings → Integrations → VouchCord and ensure slash commands are available in the channels where you want /vouch used.
Setup & configuration
Initial setup is the same data whether you use the dashboard or Discord. Pick whichever you prefer — many teams use the dashboard for clarity, and keep Discord for day-to-day vouches.
Option A — Dashboard (recommended)
-
Go to /dashboard, click Login with Discord, then select your server (you must be owner or have the Administrator permission, and the bot must already be in that server).
-
Open the Setup tab. Choose Vouch channel, Logging channel, Admin role, and Embed color, then click Save setup.
-
Later changes to channels or roles: use Server settings (same fields as Setup, plus Premium-only options when unlocked).
Option B — Discord /setup
Run /setup and follow the prompts. You will set the same four essentials:
Vouch channel
Public channel where approved vouch embeds appear (e.g. #vouches).
Logging channel
Staff channel for bot logs: deletes, restores, alerts, and related events.
Admin role
Members with this role can use staff commands such as /delvouch, /settings, /backup, and /setproducts (alongside users who already have Administrator).
Embed color
Hex accent for vouch embed sidebars (e.g. #7c3aed). You can change it anytime in Embed settings on the dashboard or via /settings.
Tip: Re-run /setup or edit Setup / Server settings whenever you move channels or rename roles. The bot must still be able to send and embed in the vouch channel.
Dashboard — all tabs
After logging in, you only see servers where you are owner or have Administrator, and where the VouchCord bot is a member. Each tab saves independently (where a Save button exists).
At-a-glance stats (totals, ratings, proof %, last vouch), KPIs (products, blacklist count, layout mode), current tier (Free / Premium), setup checklist, and a snapshot of channels / features.
Setup
Same four essentials as /setup: vouch channel, logging channel, admin role, embed color. Use this if you prefer not to run slash commands for first-time configuration.
Embed settings
Embed accent color. Premium: visual layout builder (field order, toggles, thumbnail URL, author line, vouch ID, timestamps). Free servers see the default layout until Premium is active.
Server settings
Channels and roles (same as Setup, plus Premium post-vouch role). Premium automation (vouch counter, auto emoji, staff confirmation, scheduled auto backup) and sticky message are configured here when Premium is active; on Free, those controls stay read-only so you can see what unlocks.
Products
Add, list, and remove product names users pick during /vouch. Free tier: up to 15 products. Premium: unlimited.
Blacklist
Block specific Discord user IDs from using /vouch. Optional reason text for staff records.
Vouches
Browse recent vouches with filters, open proof links, and delete entries (same effect as /delvouch for quick cleanup).
Backup & restore
Run Backup writes the server’s main JSON snapshot and a new backup key. Latest backup shows that key for every tier (with download of the main file). Premium also keeps rolling history (10 newest) with per-file download. Restore reposts vouches from the live server file when the key matches — use the checkbox and confirm carefully.
Subscription
Current tier is shown at the top. Buy via Stripe (checkout while logged in) or redeem a key for this server. After payment, the license key appears on the same tab (not via DM). Switch servers in the header to redeem for another guild.
Products
Products are the names or SKUs users attach to a vouch. They must exist before anyone can use /vouch.
- Dashboard: Products tab — type a name and Add; remove from the list as needed.
- Discord: /setproducts add <name> and /setproducts remove <name> (admin).
Free: one product per vouch; max 15 products stored. Premium: users can select multiple products on one vouch; product list is unlimited.
Vouches & staff tools
Creating a vouch (/vouch)
- Rating — 1–5 stars.
- Comment — written review.
- Proof — optional image.
- Product(s) — one on Free; one or more on Premium.
Approved vouches post in the configured vouch channel. Premium Staff confirmation (when enabled in Server settings) holds new vouches in-channel until a user with Manage Messages approves or denies.
Staff & admin (Discord)
/lookup
Search vouches (e.g. by user ID or vouch ID) — staff use.
/delvouch <vouch_id>
Permanently remove a vouch and its embed.
/resend <vouch_id>
Post the embed again (e.g. after channel cleanup).
/stats
Server vouch statistics in Discord (requires Administrator).
The Vouches tab on the dashboard offers a visual list with delete actions for the same data.
Backups & restore
Every successful manual or auto backup writes the server’s main snapshot to vouches_backup.json on the bot host and issues a backup key stored inside that file. Restores always validate the key against what is on the server.
- Dashboard: Backup & restore → Run Backup; copy the key from Latest backup; download the JSON if you want an off-site copy.
- Discord: /backup returns the key in the reply. /restore <backup_key> reposts vouches from the main file.
- Free tier: each backup includes at most 100 vouches (oldest-first slice if you exceed that). Dashboard still shows the current main backup key when you open the tab so you can restore or archive.
- Premium: backups include all vouches; the bot also keeps up to 10 dated copies under backup history. Use /backuphistory in Discord to list or restore a specific history entry by its key.
- Scheduled auto backup is Premium-only: enable in dashboard Server settings, then use /autobackup enable in Discord so the bot can store the repeating key.
Restore warning: Restore re-posts vouches into the channel. Plan with staff before running it on a live server.
Blacklist
Blocked users cannot start /vouch. Manage the list from the dashboard Blacklist tab (add by Discord user ID + optional reason, remove from the list). There is no requirement to use Discord commands for blacklist management.
/settings in Discord
Many toggles also exist under Server settings and Embed settings on the web dashboard. Use /settings when you want to change behavior from chat without opening a browser.
Channels / color
Subcommands to adjust vouch channel, logging channel, admin role, or embed color — same fields as the dashboard.
Sticky, counter, auto emoji, confirmation Premium
Premium-only behavior toggles. Sticky can be plain text or a structured embed; counter shows IDs on new vouches; auto emoji reacts to each new vouch; confirmation gates posts until staff approve.
Auto backup Premium
/autobackup pairs with dashboard toggles — hourly snapshots use the issued auto-backup key.
Premium
Premium is a one-time $5 license per Discord server (no subscription). Checkout only happens in the dashboard after Discord login so the key is tied to the buyer.
-
Open Subscription, pay with Stripe, stay signed in — the license key appears on that tab (not sent by DM).
-
Redeem the key on the same tab for the server you have selected, or run /redeem <key> in that server. One key binds to one server permanently.
-
Feature list: see Features and Pricing.
FAQ / troubleshooting
This section covers the essentials. For a longer list of errors, billing, backups, and hosting edge cases, see the dedicated FAQ page.
My server does not appear in the dashboard
You must be guild owner or have the Administrator permission, and the VouchCord bot must be in that server. If you just invited the bot, wait a moment and refresh or log out and back in.
Do I have to use /setup?
No. The Setup tab on the dashboard configures the same channels, admin role, and color. Use whichever fits your workflow.
Bot not responding to slash commands
Confirm Use Application Commands and channel overrides. Check Integrations for the bot and try again after a few minutes if the command tree was just updated.
Embeds look wrong or do not send
Ensure the vouch channel allows Embed Links and Attach Files for the bot’s role. Re-check the selected channel in Setup or Server settings.
Dashboard login or redirect issues
Clear site cookies or try a private window. Use the Discord account that actually has admin access to the target server.
Backup key not showing (Free)
Open the Backup & restore tab again after running /backup or dashboard Run Backup so the page refreshes the live file metadata. You need at least one successful backup file on the server.
Premium key invalid
Paste exactly; keys are single-use. Redeem while managing the correct server. If a paid key fails, open a ticket in the Discord support server.
Restore did not show every vouch
Confirm the backup key matches the file currently on the server. For a specific Premium history snapshot, use /backuphistory restore with that entry’s key. Use /resend for individual IDs.
